posted 03/08/2010 As you may have heard, Matt Brown is a 15 year old High School sophomore who lives in Norwood. On January 23, 2010 Matt was seriously injured in a Norwood High School varsity hockey game. He suffered fractures of the C4 and C5 vertebrae in his neck and sustained significant bruising of his spinal cord. Matt's injury has left him paralyzed from the chest down. Medically, the statistics show that Matt faces an enormous challenge in his effort to recover fully. His family and friends believe deeply that Matt will recover and walk again but it will be a long and difficult journey for him, his parents and his sister. Matt has been transfered to the Shepherd Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta to begin his recovery as he fights to regain feeling and function in his arms and legs.
Matt's family suddenly faces a daunting financial need associated with his care and recovery at a time when they are most focused on his health and rehabilitation. As such, Matt's family and friends have planned a Gala event to honor Matt, celebrate the community that has come together for him and raise funds to assist him and his parents during this extraordinarily difficult time.
The event,
An Evening of faith, Hope and Inspiration to benefit Brownie Points/the Matt Brown Rehab & Recovery Fund, is scheduled for Friday April 30th 2010 at Gillette Stadium.
Triboro Youth Hockey will be making a donation to support this event, if you would like to make a donation or attend the Gala, you can use either of the links listed below, or via check (made out to Brownie Points or The Matt Brown Gala) and mailed to P.O. Box 398 Norwood, MA 02062
