Triboro Hockey Update 4/21 - A Message from the President

Dear Triboro Nation,

On behalf of the board, I hope everyone is safe and well during this crazy time.   It has been a very difficult month for everyone, regardless of age.  Many families have been affected directly by the virus as well financially by layoffs and furloughs.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and hope that our everyday lives can get back to normal in the very near future.

As an organization we are trying to figure this all out as well, as none of us have been through anything like this before.  Having said that, we are planning on hockey returning once again at the end of the summer and we can get on with the 2020-2021 hockey season.

As part of planning for next season, we need to sign contracts with the various rinks committing to a certain amount of ice time for all of next year.  The amount of ice we commit too all depends on how many skaters we believe we will have next season.  Although evaluations for all levels were cancelled in March, your timely registration now is extremely important.

We are asking everyone that plans on playing for Triboro next season to register your player(s) on the Triboro website with our commitment to return any funds to families if the season were to be canceled.  We certainly don’t believe the season will be canceled, however we want to provide assurance to all our members of a refund in a worst-case scenario.

On another note, our annual meeting will be held virtually on May 21st at 7:00PM.  We will hold board elections and encourage all members to attend and vote.  We are looking to reduce the number of board seats to six next year, with many other positions reporting to a board member.  We believe this will allow us to be “nimble” and make decisions quickly and efficiently.

As a non-profit, we are an all-volunteer organization dependent on our members to give their time, energy and enthusiasm to the sport of hockey. We have many positions that need to be filled every year from coaches, team managers, committee members, banquet volunteers, etc.

We all look forward to next season and seeing all of you at the rink.

Regards,

Tom McDermott

President, Triboro Youth Hockey

All Hockey events suspended for remainder of the season
Triboro Nation,
I am sorry to report that due to the continued threat of the coronavirus our local rinks have closed, thus forcing us to cancel the remaining playoff games.  This is an unprecedented situation, however it was a great year of hockey as our teams competed well across all age levels and a number of teams were victorious in the tournaments.  We were fortunate that all teams were able to complete the regular season, however our mite teams are missing out on the ever famous lobster pot tourney and a few teams on the state tournament.
In regard to tryouts we have decided to schedule dates at the end of the summer as we believe (hope) the rinks will be re-opened by that time.  We need everyone to register for next season as soon as possible so that we have a sense of how many players will be playing for Triboro during the 2020-2021 hockey season.

The registration deposit for next season has been reduced to $75 until May 15th, so please register soon.

The end of year banquet has been canceled, however we do intend on having the very popular video re-capping the year.  We will distribute the video via the Triboro website and facebook page.

Lastly, we are planning on having a summer get together once the ban on large gatherings comes to an end.  We want to use this day for players to get out fitted for next years jersey as well as get the kids and coaches together one last time prior to heading into summer break.
Please keep your "eyes and ears" out for a message from the board on a date.

Most importantly stay safe as we want to see all of you next season.

Thank you
Triboro Board
