Dear Triboro Members:
Hoping everyone and every team has had a successful beginning to the long hockey season and that everyone is in the “hockey mode”!
As the bulk of our teams go through the opening part of their schedules at Northstar (AYHL), please keep in mind that the first Parity Round will take effect on November 1st with new schedules. So, if your team has not been faring well through their first 4 or 5 games, things should improve with the new scheduling. If your team has been having an easy time of it, it should be time for them to step up to more equal competition. Not all of the teams, in all organizations, are placed properly at the beginning of the year so this is a normal process which eventually works itself out.
Tournament play has started for a lot of our teams and hopefully this will be an enjoyable experience for our players and families. The tournaments are replacing Triboro’s prior year’s participation in the Greater Boston League (GBL). Please remember that this is the first year that Triboro has participated in so many different tournaments throughout the State. The Board will be very interested in hearing back from its members about each tournament, i.e., how well it was run, how well Triboro was accommodated, was the scheduling reasonable, was each team placed in the proper competitive division, etc. You can let your Head Coach know what you think of the tournament or you can contact me, or our Director of Tournaments, Bruce McCauley. We are hoping Triboro teams’ participation in these various tournaments will help enhance team camaraderie while at the same time allowing our teams to play teams from various locales rather than just the local teams we commonly play.
Items of note:
- We are currently planning power skating and skill sessions beginning around mid-November. Please check the website for scheduling.
- The scheduling of Tournament games is at the sole discretion of the rinks and organizations running the tournaments. We realize that some game times may be somewhat early during weekdays. We expect this to be an infrequent occurrence and will monitor the situation closely. We will make every effort to have Triboro games scheduled later in the day during weekdays.
- The 14th Annual Triboro Golf Tournament was once again very successful. The net profit from our main fund-raising event helps in the purchase of additional ice time, maintaining reasonable membership fees in these tough economic times, and entry fees for optional tournament play. Thanks to all who participated and supported this event.
- The new Triboro Titan jackets have arrived! Your coach should have yours ready and waiting. They look great!
- Hopefully every player and family has had the opportunity to read and review the Triboro Instructional Manual distributed to all Mite thru Bantam players. The Manual was compiled by our Coaching Coordinator, and Head Coach of Marlborough High School, John Butler. It is filled with valuable hockey information.
We hope every player truly enjoys his or her hockey experience with Triboro. The board of Directors is dedicated to creating the best environment for all players to learn the game of hockey and have fun at doing it. Please contact me with any comments, suggestions, ideas, or problems you may have. We are here to make this the best hockey experience for all members.
Sincerely,
Dave Santom
President
